Echocardiography Test ...

A Cardiac Echo is an ultrasound image of your heart. Using a probe that is applied to the chest wall, the heart can be visualized by the ultrasound, allowing the cardiologist to look at the strength of the heart muscle or see if there are any problems with the valves of the heart. This information can be obtained quickly and painlessly, and it is very helpful to your doctors in determining the condition of you heart.

The test is performed by a board certified cardiacultrasonographer and is interpreted by the cardiologist. No special preparation is required on your part. You will simply be asked to lay on your left side during the test. The cardiac echo usually takes thirty minutes and the results are available immediately. Your primary care doctor will be notified promptly of the results of your test. If your insurance plan requires a written referral from your primary care physician, please bring this with you.
